Background Slideshow

Year 1-2

Spring 2019

The Spring Term is now under way and we have begun our exciting new topic 'World of Ice'.

We don't have a trip this term but we have arranged to borrow the 'Handling Collections' from the Scott Polar Institute in Cambridge. The children will have opportunity to work closely and explore modern day and replica historical exploration equipment and clothing first hand to link with our Science, Geography and English topics. As a point of note, the Scott Polar Institute has free entry for all and is based in Cambridge on Lensfield Road. It is a small and yet fascinating museum and is home to the genuine diary and letters written by Captain Scott plus many other exhibits.

Parent's Evening will be on 27th and 28th March 2019, you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher. Please make an appointment to find out how your child has progressed since November.

Year 1 Parents are invited to attend a brief meeting about Phonics Screening on Tuesday 22nd January 2019 at 3.30pm in Chestnut classroom.

We have an evening meeting at 6pm the next day, 23rd January 2019, for Year 2 Parents about SATs and ways to support your child.

Homework will continue to be sent home on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday.

PE days

Monday - Chestnut and Beech

Tuesday - Larch, Chestnut and Beech

Thursday - Larch

Children are expected to have their named PE kits in school for these sessions.  As the days are now quite cold it would be useful if your child could also have a jumper and tracksuit bottoms as well as the usual t-shirt, shorts and trainers.  Children should ensure that long hair is tied back, no jewellery or watches are worn and earrings are removed for any PE sessions.  If children need to remove earrings during the day, then they should be able to do this themselves and have a suitable container to store them in.

We are always happy to answers any queries that you may have but we would request that you come to see us after school via the office rather than the morning, as this is a very busy time of day.
